What is the difference between dynamic and static load capacity?
Dynamic load is the weight the rack carries while the vehicle is moving; static load applies when the vehicle is parked. Static ratings are typically several times the dynamic figure, so the same rack carries a much heavier load in camp than on the highway. The exact figures for each model are listed in its specification table.
Will it fit my roof?
The platform is universal and is supplied with vehicle-specific mounting brackets. Send us the make, model and year, and whether your roof has factory rails, gutters or a bare roof, and we will confirm the bracket set.
Do I have to drill my roof?
No. Our racks mount to factory roof points with vehicle-specific brackets, so no drilling of the roof is required. If your vehicle has no factory rails or gutters, send us photos of the roof and we will confirm which bracket set applies.
Can I mount a rooftop tent on it?
Yes, provided the combined weight of tent plus occupants stays within the static rating of your rack. Take the static figure from the rack specification table, add the tent net weight and the people sleeping in it, and leave a margin for bedding and accessories.
Is the rack steel or aluminium?
It depends on the model - we build both steel racks and aluminium platforms, and the two suit different priorities. The roof material of the rack you are ordering is stated in its specification table; tell us whether low weight or maximum strength matters more and we will point you to the right one.
Does the side ladder fit this rack?
Yes - our side ladders are designed to clamp to our roof racks and platforms and are finished in the same black powder coating as the racks. Send us the rack model and we will confirm the clamp set.
